Ask and It Is Given
As many of you know, I have been looking for a house (off and on) for the past year. Well, three weeks ago I walked into “my house.” I knew it immediately and told my realtor I wanted to make an offer. I serendipitously started meeting my new “neighbors” at yoga class, church and local programs I gave. I started moving into my house mentally, feeling it was the perfect space, location and—most important—the right energy for me. I experienced an immediate sense of belonging, safety and home when I was in it.
Just one minor problem: The house was going to be put on the market and the last listed price was way over my price range. But I felt such a strong pull to this house I decided to write a letter to the owner explaining how much I loved it. I also apologized for my low offer, not in any effort to justify my number or try to scare him with housing market doom-and-gloom, but explaining that I just couldn’t walk away without at least asking. After more negotiating (and another letter), we settled on a price! All because I asked.
Asking for what you want can be a challenge. Maybe we don’t ask because we don’t think we deserve it. Or maybe we think we won’t get it, so why even bother? Or maybe we just don’t know how to ask because we are so out of practice? The first step of course is knowing what you want. Do you know what you want in a relationship, job, home, hobby, contract or vacation? The worst that can happen is a no, which is always better than not asking at all.
I invite you to explore what you want, visualize it as specifically as possible, and then with your well-intentioned heart, ask for it. And let me know when it is given!
Namaste,

Diane
